Rudy Hagen, son of German immigrants, was born in Chicago in 1920. In 1933, father and son moved to Germany. Adjusting to life in the Third Reich, Rudy becomes a pilot and in WWII a highly decorated Luftwaffe fighter ace. On leave in occupied Paris, Rudy meets the lovely Jeanette from Alsace and they become lovers.
